Biotinylated Protein Expression Service

Biotin (also known as vitamin H) is a water-soluble vitamin with a molecular weight of 244 Da. Activated biotin can covalently bind to many proteins without significantly affecting their biological activities. In addition, biotin has a highly specific interaction with avidin, which has been used in a variety of scientific and medical applications ranging from immunohistochemistry to drug targeting.

Based on stable and mature Escherichia coli expression system and mammalian expression system, Biologics International Corp (BIC) provides biotinylated protein expression service. There are two methods of biotinylation: AviTagTM technology and chemical biotinylation.

  • AviTagTM technology can specifically biotinylate Avitag’s lysine residues by biotin ligase (BirA) in vitro which does not interfere with protein’s natural binding activities.
  • Chemical biotinylation can biotinylate primary amines in the side chains of lysine residues and the N-terminus of protein which result in multiple biotin attachment and lead to high detection sensitivity.

Highlights

  • Rich experience: We have delivered >100 biotinylated proteins.
  • Mature technology: Stable and mature protein expression platforms enable us to offer you biotinylated proteins with high bioactivity and sensitivity.
  • Strict quality control: We perform western blot assay using avidin to detect the biotinylated protein.
