SCF (Stem cell factor), Human Recombinant, E.coli

Stem cell factor (SCF, also called c-kit ligand, steel factor, and mast cell growth factor), is composed of 164 amino acids and has a molecular weight of 30 kDa. SCF signals are transmitted by the c-kit receptor, which belongs to the same subfamily of tyrosine kinases receptors as platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). c-kit is distributed in such tissues as bone marrow, spleen, thymus, skin, and testis, while SCF is expressed in placental tissue, bone marrow stromal cells, venous endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and Sertoli cells. SCF synergizes with hematopoietic growth factors such as erythropoietin, GM-CSF, and G-CSF, to promote lineage-specific, hematopoietic precursor cell growth. The SCF system functions mainly in the stimulation and maturation of myeloid, erythroid, and lymphoid progenitors, and in the differentiation and growth of melanocytes, germ cells, and mast cells.
Full Name Stem Cell Factor Human Recombinant
Synonyms SCF, Stem Cell Factor, Kit ligand Precursor, C-kit ligand, Mast cell growth factor, MGF, SF, KL-1, Kitl
Source E. coli
Amino Acid Sequence The sequence of the N-terminal amino acids was determined to be Met-Glu-Gly-Ile-Cys.
Molecular Weight Human Stem Cell Factor (SCF) was produced in E. coli as a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 165 amino acids and shown to have a molecular mass of 18.4kDa.
Purity >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Endotoxin Endotoxin level was found to be ≤ 0.01 ng/µg(0.1EU/µg) by a LAL gel clot method.
Formulation Lyophilized from a 10 mM acetic acid, filtered with a membrane (0.2 µm).
Reconstitution To reconstitute the protein, add sterile water to the lyophilized protein and make a preparation with a concentration ≥0.1mg/ml. The preparation can be diluted into other appropriate buffers if necessary. Cautions should be taken to avoid bacterial growth, resulting in potential contamination with endotoxin.
Stability Once lyophilized, the protein is stable at room temperature (≈3 weeks) and at -20°C (≥ 2 years from the date of receipt).Upon reconstitution, it can be stored at 4°C (≤ 7 days) or at -20°C (≤ 6 months). For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.Avoid frequent freeze-thaw cycles.
Biological Activity The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of Human TF-1 cells is < 2 ng/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 500,000 IU/mg.
Usage FOR LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
