IFN-alpha 2b | Interferon-Alpha 2b, human
Interferon alpha-2b plays a role in regulating immune responses. Its function is believed to promote an innate immune system in response to viral pathogens by acting upon external cellular receptors to stimulate a host of intracellular and extracellular activities. Extracellularly, interferon alpha-2b is thought to also enhance the expression of human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) and other HPV-specific antigens on the cell surface, thereby promoting the recognition of the infected cells by cytotoxic T cells, natural killer cells, and other cells of the innate immune response.
Full Name | Interferon-Alpha 2b Human Recombinant |
Synonyms | Interferon alpha 2b, IFNA, INFA2, MGC125764, MGC125765. |
Source | E. coli |
Amino Acid Sequence | The sequence of the N-terminal amino acids was determined to be Met-Cys-Asp-Leu-Pro. |
Molecular Weight | Interferon-a 2b Human Recombinant was produced in E. coli as a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 166 amino acids and shown to exhibit a molecular mass of ≈19.4 kDa by SDS-PAGE. |
Purity | >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC |
Endotoxin | Endotoxin level was found to be ≤ 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg) by a LAL gel clot method. |
Formulation | Lyophilized from a sodium phosphate dibasic (2.3 mg) and sodium phosphate monobasic (0.55 mg) buffer, filtered with a membrane (0.2 µm). |
Reconstitution | To reconstitute the protein, add sterile water to the lyophilized protein and make a preparation with a concentration ≥0.1mg/ml. The preparation can be diluted into other appropriate buffers if necessary. Cautions should be taken to avoid bacterial growth, resulting in potential contamination with endotoxin. |
Stability | Once lyophilized, the protein is stable at room temperature (≈3 weeks) and at -20°C (≥ 2 years from the date of receipt).Upon reconstitution, it can be stored at 4°C (≤ 7 days) or at -20°C (≤ 6 months). For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.Avoid frequent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Biological Activity | In a viral resistance assay using bovine kidney MDBK cells, the specific activity was determined to be 200,000,000 IU/ mg. |
Usage | FOR LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. |
