IFN-a 1a (Interferon-Alpha 1a), Human Recombinant, E.coli
Type I interferons was first discovered that virally infected cells secrete a substance that prevents the infection of other cells with virus. Now, This substance called interferon, and comprised of a mixture of multiple subtypes that include alpha, beta, omega, kappa, epsilon, tau and zeta interferon. Interferon (IFN)-alpha is an innate immune cytokine that has both antiviral and anti-proliferative activities and is therefore used to treat infectious diseases and cancer, meanwhile, IFN-alpha is a regulatory secretory protein with distinctive biological effects such as antiproliferative actions against many tumor cell lines. For another, some research support that IFN-alpha has been used to study the effects of innate immune cytokines on the brain and behavior in humans. In the clinical operation, INF-alpha is used for treatment of HIV and Hepatitis C infections. IFN-α comprises a family of multiple subtypes and IFA-α therapies is based on a single IFN-α subtype.

Molecular Weight | Recombinant Interferon alpha was produced in E. coli as a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 166 amino acids and shown to exhibit a Molecular Weight of approximately 19 kDa by SDS-PAGE (under reducing and non-reducing conditions). The IFN-a 1a was purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. |
Purity | >97% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC |
Endotoxin | Endotoxin level was found to be ≤ 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg) by a LAL gel clot method. |
Formulation | Lyophilized from a PBS solution pH7.2, filtered with a membrane (0.2 µm) . |
Reconstitution | To reconstitute the protein, add sterile water to the lyophilized protein and make a preparation with a concentration ≥0.1mg/ml. The preparation can be diluted into other appropriate buffers if necessary. Cautions should be taken to avoid bacterial growth, resulting in potential contamination with endotoxin. |
Stability | Once lyophilized, the protein is stable at room temperature (≈3 weeks) and at -20°C (≥ 2 years from the date of receipt).Upon reconstitution, it can be stored at 4°C (≤ 7 days) or at -20°C (≤ 6 months). For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.Avoid frequent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Biological Activity | The specific activity was determined to be 100MIU/ mg by using a viral resistance assay in Human WISH cells. |
Usage | FOR LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. |
