SDF-1b (Stromal Cell-Derived Factor-1 beta), Rat Recombinant, E.coli
Chemotactic cytokines (chemokines) have been traditionally defined as small (10–14 kDa) secreted leukocyte chemoattractants that bind to specific G-protein coupled seven-span transmembrane receptors (GPCRs), are major regulators of cell trafficking and adhesion. The chemokine CXCL12 [also called stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1)], a 68-amino-acid chemokine (8kDa) belonging to the CXC chemokine family, and it was cloned from a bone marrow-derived stromal cell line and was later identified as a pre-B-cell growth stimulating factor (PBSF). SDF-1 is broadly expressed in the bone marrow and in other tissues, including the skin, heart, liver, lung and brain endothelium. Moreover, SDF-1 acts as a potent chemoattractant for immature and mature hematopoietic cells. SDF-1 binds primarily to its cognate receptor CXCR4 and thus regulates the trafficking of normal and malignant cells.

Purity | >96% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC |
Formulation | Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. The Rat SDF1B protein was lyophilized from a concentrated (1 mg/ml) sterile solution containing 20mM Phsophate buffer pH-7.4 and 0.15M NaCl. |
Stability | The lyophilized form of the protein is stable at room temperature for 3 weeks and at -20°C for at least 2 years from the date of receipt. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4°C for no more than 7 days. The protein is stable at -20°C for six months. For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended. Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Biological Activity | The specific activity as determined by its ability to chemoattract human peripheral blood monocytes at 100-150ng/ml corresponding to a Specific Activity of 6,667-10,000IU/mg. |
Solubility | It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized SDF-1b in sterile 18MΩ-cm H2O not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. |
Usage | LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. |
