Eotaxin-2 (Eosinophil chemotactic protein 2), Rat Recombinant, E.coli
Eotaxins are broadly regarded as eosinophils high selectively chemoattractants. So far, three members have been discovered: eotaxin/CCL11, eotaxin-2/CCL24/MPIF-2 (myeloid progenitor inhibitory factor 2) and eotaxin-3/CCL26. CCL24 is constitutively expressed in fibroblasts, epithelial cells, macrophages. Among those chemokines, Eotaxin-2 is a potent chemoattractant for eosinophils, basophils and T helper type 2 (Th2) lymphocytes. The eotaxin-2/CCL24 receptor is expressed in human brain, skin, endothelium and macrophages. The functional of CCL24 is ligand for CC chemokine receptor 3 (CCR3), which is preferentially expressed on eosinophils. After identification of eotaxin/CCL11 as a relatively selective chemokine for eosinophils, eotaxin-2/CCL24 was cloned and showed chemotactic activity for eosinophils in a range similar to that of eotaxin/CCL11. Furthermore, Inhibition of eotaxin-2 by monoclonal antibodies has a significant protective effect in adjuvant arthritis.
