LIF (Leukemia Inhibitory Factor), Human Recombinant, E.coli

Leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) is a polyfunctional cytokine that affects target cell growth by inhibiting differentiation. The LIF receptor is related to the gp130 signal-transducing component of the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor and the G-CSF receptor, with the transmembrane and cytoplasmic regions. The LIF is extensively used in pluripotent stem cell culture, because it inhibits the growth of murine myeloid leukemia M1 cells and causes macrophage differentiation. LIF also has several other functions such as influence on bone metabolism, cachexia, embryogenesis, neural development, inflammation and differentiation of target cells.
Full Name Leukemia Inhibitory Factor Human Recombinant
Synonyms Leukemia Inhibitory Factor, LIF, CDF, HILDA, D-FACTOR, Differentiation- stimulating factor, Melanoma-derived LPL inhibitor, MLPLI, Emfilermin, DIA.
Source E. coli
Amino Acid Sequence The sequence of the N-terminal amino acids was determined to be Met- Ser-Pro-Leu-Pro.
Molecular Weight Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF) Human Recombinant was produced in E. coli as a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 180 amino acids and shown to exhibit a molecular mass of 19.7 kDa.
Purity >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
Endotoxin Endotoxin level was found to be ≤ 0.1 ng/µg(1EU/µg) by a LAL gel clot method.
Formulation Lyophilized from a 1x PBS solution, filtered with a membrane (0.2 µm).
Reconstitution To reconstitute the protein, add sterile water to the lyophilized protein and make a preparation with a concentration ≥0.1mg/ml. The preparation can be diluted into other appropriate buffers if necessary. Cautions should be taken to avoid bacterial growth, resulting in potential contamination with endotoxin.
Stability Once lyophilized, the protein is stable at room temperature (≈3 weeks) and at -20°C (≥ 2 years from the date of receipt).Upon reconstitution, it can be stored at 4°C (≤ 7 days) or at -20°C (≤ 6 months). For long term storage, please store at -80°C and the addition of a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) is recommended.Avoid frequent freeze-thaw cycles.
Biological Activity The ED50 was determined by the M1 cell differentiation assay to be < 0.01 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 100MIU/mg.
Usage FOR LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. Not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
